Meet Your Coach

Ryan Rizor, CSCS

<—- That’s me, Ryan Rizor, the founder and Director of Human Performance for FOCUS. My exposure to organized performance training started in Jr. High and progressed through college playing Division II football. My fascination with human performance was realized while studying Exercise Science at Slippery Rock University.

After graduating college with honors I earned a position at the Olympic Training Center in Lake Placid, New York. The Olympic environment opened many doors and eyes about the science and practice of complete human development. Through a lot of hard work, I’ve since been an Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach for the University of Pittsburgh responsible for four teams. I’ve been the The Director of Sports Performance for the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) working with clinical and medical professionals.

In 2004, the entrepreneurial bug struck and I made the easy decision to build and develop my own business dedicated to the enhancement of human performance. FOCUS Human Performance Programs, LLC was born out of a idea to offer an unconditional service that lays the groundwork for athletes and athletic organizations when developing complete athletic potential.

After experiencing all levels, from youth to professional, I decided the greatest impact and enjoyment is with youth populations. FOCUS has been involved with over 15 WPIAL schools in the greater Pittsburgh area serving thousands of athletes and coaches, and has been contracted by numerous clubs and businesses. The relationships range from camps and clinics to presentations and consulting. The FOCUS System, the guiding force behind FOCUS, has helped develop and enhance complete human performance for countless athletes.

I’m a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength & Conditioning Association, published author, been interviewed by several media outlets, and a feature television segment for WTAE Channel 4 Healthy For Life series.
